Osteopathic Dry Needling - Treatment Overview

Dry needling is an technique offered for the treatment of muscle pain. It involves using very fine, pre-sterilized needles to deactivate “trigger points”, which can occur when muscles become sore, tense and knotted. Nerves that supply the affected muscles, can become overactive leading to tension in the surrounding areas (soft tissue, joints, blood vessels).

By releasing these trigger points, our trained Osteopaths aim to relax the muscle pain and spasms. This can in turn lead to improved blood supply and oxygen to the area, increased nerve conduction, and also breakdown metabolic waste from inside the cells. This can assist you to experience a greater range of motion, reduced pain, reduced inflammation and an improvement to your overall function.
